Ruthie | "Top destinations for visitors to panama include..."
top destinations for visitors to Panama include; Contadora Island, Isla Grande, San Blas, Bocas del Toro and Coronado. You will find nice beaches and top class amenities at each spot except Isla Grande which is more natural and less built up. San Blas is also full of nature. And no trip would be complete without a visit to the Volcan Baru.

 Q. What are the best nationally known places to visit in panama?
"In panama city visit the casco viejo..."
I was in Panama about 3 years ago. Unmissable a boat trip on the Panama Canal. Also try the railway that connects the Atlantic and Pacific Ocean (Panama City to Colon).
Visit to the Chagres River national park is really worth it. Panama has one of the most unspoilt rainforests in Central America.
The Gamboa Resort offers a mini cable car to the top of a hill with wonderful views of the Canal and jungle.
Fantastic if you have the opportunity: visit the San Blas Islands along the Caribbean Coast. Still run by local Amerindians called Kuna, they are fascinating both for their beauty and for the amazing Kuna communities that build towns similar to primitive Venices on the lagoon's islands.
In Panama City visit the Casco Viejo, the Old Town with its Spanish Colonial style streets and churches and lovely restaurants and the Panama la Vieja, the location of the first city centre a few miles away from the present one, which was destroyed by pirate Henry Morgan in 1671, prompting the relocation of the city to safer ground. There you'll see lots of wonderful ruins.
Other must-sees: the Bridge of the Americas, over the Canal which connects North and South America, and the El Valle extinct volcano, now a lush valley on the hills with lots of fantastic forest visits available.
At the time I spent some days at amazing coastal eco-lodge Tesoro del Caribe near Portobelo, another historically important little town. I would recommend that too.

 Q. What's the best place to visit on the emerald coast of florida? which area is the best, or how are each one like: walton, destin, panama city, sea side, etc.
also, is panama city really touristy? what is ther to do?
thanks!
"Panama city and laguna beach..."
On that side, I have been to Destin, Panama City and Laguna Beach. All are super fun. Panama and Destin are both kind of touristy, but Destin is a little smaller and more fun imo. Panama has some amusement parks, though. Daytona is a super awesome fun place, but I think it's on the other side, no? The beach is non-stop fun for me. Depending on your age, they offer clubs at night. Something that is real fun is crab hunting at night. Walk out into knee high water at night with a bucket, flashlight, and little net. You can spot them with your flash light, and sometimes they dart across your bare feet - so exciting and a lot of fun! Those places also have mini golf courses and things like that as well.

Iloilo City is located on the Island of Pany (3rd largest) the big one directly south of world famous Boracay. The city is growing has 5 major new malls, good doctors and hospitals and very cheap compared to the states. Same for Dentists. New Airport 30 min outside the city. Many nice resorts and resturants here.
Tourist visa's can be extended up to 18 months and it's fast and easy.
Personally I recommend renting for at least 1 year before deciding where to live. Besides 6 month or month to minth leases are all but impossible to find. 1 year is the norm. 2 months as secuirity and first month rent is the norm for move in. $400 to $500 for a nice 3-4 br house with maids room. CATV and Internet availibe is most areas near the city.
Definately check out the living in the philippines website. Has all the info you need and it's free. It's owner is an american living here for 40 plus years. It also has a link to a discussion group with expats like myself actually living here in the philippines that can help answer specifics in differant areas.
Good luck with your search. After travelling the world for 23 years in the Navy I have seen a lot of places . A south pacific tropical island suits me just fine.
