 Harrison | Q. Where can i get a feel for panama indigenous cultures near panama city?
"An hour away from panama city is the indigenous village of parara puru..."
An hour away from Panama City is the indigenous village of Parara Puru, where travelers can get guided tours and learn about Panama`s Embera Indians. Supporting the local culture is a great way to give back to such a wonderful country and the tours are a great day trip idea for kids, too. Embera Tours Panama offer small group day tours for about $120 per person, which includes pickup and drop-off at your hotel, park entrance fee, a canoe trip, an authentic Embera lunch and music and dance cultural presentation. Guide Garceth Cunampio is from an Embera tribe from the Darien province and speaks English, Spanish and the native Embera language. A tour guide and a naturalist, Garceth will point out mega fauna including anteaters and ocelots that you otherwise wouldn`t see in Panama. The Embera are extremely talented craftspeople and the tour also gives you an opportunity to meet some of the local artisans at an artist`s market. You can book a tour by emailing Garceth at gcunampio@yahoo.com, or by calling 507-6519-7121, or 507-250-1165 in the evening.

| | | Wilton | Q. What part of panama city should i see after the panama canal?
"Another major point of attraction in panama city is old panama..."
After the Panama Canal, another major point of attraction in Panama City is Old Panama, which is also known as San Felipe, Catedral or simply Casco Viejo (the old town). Being the first Spanish city founded in the Americas, the town is steeped in colonial history and one can spend days wandering the Casco Viejo in a veritable architectural odyssey. The 800 or so buildings are filled with 16th century churches, palaces and plazas, but the town also exhibits an eclectic mix of Caribbean, art deco, and French styles. The ruins of Santo Domingo church and convent is arguably the most important attraction among the relics of Old Spain in Panama. Though the woodwork of Santo Domingo burned in a fire in 1756, the great arch of the church survived. Casco Viejo was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is undergoing a large-scale renovation. It is relatively well-maintained with a strong police presence, so you can walk around most streets safely. The nightlife in Casco Viejo is quite exciting; the city bustles with National Theater performances, nightclubs and unique bars, including authentic Cuban bar Vieja Havana, Moroccan-style Indigo, bohemian La Casona, and jazz/salsa bar Platea, just to name a few.

 Q. How do i flatten for diplay purposes a silk banner and a silk screen print that have been folded up since 1960 i have a silk screen print from japan & a slik banner/pillow cover from the panama canel that have been folded up since the '60s. how do i get the wrinkles out to display them flat?
It's hard to know how delicate they are without seeing them, but I think you'll have to iron them.
This might sound crazy but as long as you're careful and patient it should be fine. Make sure the steam setting on your iron is off, it needs to be absolutely dry and that you have it on a low setting. Place a piece of brown paper over the silk to protect it from scorching - don't use newspaper or anything printed as the ink will transfer and it might be worth getting acid free brown paper which you can get from an arts and crafts shop.Then move the iron across it pressing firmly and working from top to bottom, be slow and systematic.
The other way to do, it if this sounds a little risky is to get some velcro, the stuff that sticks on rather than stitches. Apply a piece to each corner of the piece and then velcro it to a flat wooden board keeping the fabric taut. Then place another board on top and weigh it down with anything heavy you can find - big books bricks etc - it will take a lot longer and the results won't be as good but it's the slightly safer option.
Hope that helps.

come on, chairs are a type of furniture. tables, beds, desks, dressers, cupboards, etc. are also furniture. though the word furniture includes chairs, you can't call a chair a furniture. it's a part. that's all. just like that, usa is a part of america. so, we can't call usa america and the people pertaining to the united states of america or its inhabitants americans. i'm a canadian and i'm also an american because canada is in america. right?!
africa -> african
antarctica -> ?! (it's adjective is antarctic)
asia -> asian
australia -> australian
europe -> european
north america -> north american
south america -> south american
* north americans & south americans can be collectively called americans.
may be, usa is the most dominant country in the american continent. forgot former united kingdom?! they were generous... though uk was the most dominant country in europe (of course in the entire world!) they didn't call their citizens europeans...
solution? have this! though originally referred to residents of new england, we call 'em yankees! think you remember the academy award winning 'the yankee doodle mouse' in which when the rocket explodes a set of fireworks form the "the star-spangled banner" and lt. jerry mouse proudly salutes the flag! (but poor tom... : ( lol) : p
star if you want! : )
"canadians would want to disassociate themselves from the term "american" as much as possible."
"but one thing canadians do not call themselves americans."
because of united states of americans... blah! even i don't like to call myself an american generally.. i'm a canadian... i'm calling myself an american in this question to make it clear... that's all!
"and one point you did not consider people that were brought here like me i am at times called a canadian american{ like people from africa are african american"
will they call african african if they live in africa?!
though i'm not living in the states, i'm also a canadian american... canada is my country n america is my continent... ^^
Yeah I understand how that can be funny I was born Canadian now living in America (USA) It does not bother me to be called "American" either But one thing Canadians do not call themselves Americans. I suppose that is their choice to follow in that way, I am an american I live in America, I am also a Canadian, But I still call myself an American. And if I am ever in trouble overseas I say "I am a Canadian" not an American (That seems funny to me)
People I suppose hate us that live in the United states, And one point you did not consider people that were brought here Like me I am at times called a Canadian American{ Like people from Africa are African American" But that is an opinion i can follow But still when friendly people ask me where i live if i tell them "I live in America." And I am proud to live here, So i can be in agreement with Answer 1 and say i like living in Ameica, It is the greatest country in the world to me. That you may or may not afreee with that is fine.
And as always neat to see a fellow canuck like me.
edit to detail : OK The Yankees were europeans YAY LOL From Europe the most dominint country so we need to call them European Americans? Ok carry on. mouse is great. I don't remember it but carry on. i think you are making a point i need to understand
Also religiously they came from the mid east. LOL no that is a Mormon worldview i am not Mormon so go ahead. Sorry but that is where i am lost USA came from Europre so thatis no good. Where did ther Canadians come from? I am supposing england because Canada is Under English law. Sorry I moved here when I was a little ubneduaated so and so. And I am pretty Sure Canada is stilll from there but then I believe when Columbus found the Americas he found one place. and thwat was called the Americas and who cares? where we came from? Europe is now no good England is no longer any good is there a place that is good? I understand you love your country and that is your right i will not come close to trying to take away I love where i live too. And we are friends good enough for me.
