 Q. When is it off season in panama city, panama? i was wondering when it was a good time to travel there. also, are there any beaches in panama city, panama? or do you have to go to another city in panama for the beach? if so, how far is the beach by car? any transit/subways trains?
"The wet season is from april/may to middle end of december..."
We have two seasons here. The wet season is from April/May to middle end of December. The Dry season is from mid-December to when it starts raining again usually April/May.
Now, we are in the wet season and it rains almost every day. Not all day, an hour or so, but it is very cloudy and overcast during this time of the year. So people, like you, who want to go to the beach, usually come down in the Dry season. Rates are higher then and the city is more crowded, but it is more sunny. Also it rains more on the Caribbean side, especially in Bocas del Toro.
By car, to Isla Grande would be 90 minutes if you take the new expressway, the autopista.
To go to Gorgona Beach, or Vera Cruz will be about an hour.
No subways, no trains. Just buses.
.
There are no beaches in Panama City. There are some close by but they aren't the best. They would be Taboga Island (accessible by Ferry and it has a few hotels).
Vera Cruz is the next closest but it is really just a village on the other side of the canal and the beach isn't very nice.
To get to the nice ones, you need a car. Even if you take a bus to a Pacific Beach, the driver will let you off at the Pan American highway and you will have to walk a long way to get to the beach. Unless you are lucky to find a taxi.
Santa Clara is the best on the Pacific side and it is 90 minutes drive from the city.
On the Caribbean side, the beaches are the nicest, but you need a car. Isla Grande is one of the best in Panama. It is a small island with a beach on both sides and some small hostel type hotels. There are water taxis who will take you to the beach and bring you back.

 Q. Christmas season in panama? i am doing a project on christmas celebrations on panama, i was wondering if you could help me out, tell me traditions of what you do, etc etc also if you have a good recipe for food, that would be good as well!
well, It is kind of similar to other countries. In general, we have the traditionally dinner with the turkey and the ham, but we also eat some Panamanian plates like "tamales", rice with chicken , "rosca"( which is a bread with almonds). The Bread is something that we only eat for these holidays, so make sure you add that to your project.
Also, we eat a cake with fruits. I don't like it, but must people do.
Another thing is that most of the people go to several parties. For example, I have the Christmas dinner with my family and then I go to my friend's dinner and then to my other friend's dinner and so on. You can imagine how much food do I eat, hahahaha
I hope that works for your project :P
please give me the 10 points :(

 Q. What fish is in season right now in florida? i'm visiting my family in panama city, florida, and i'm cooking a meal for them. i'm from wisconsin, so i'm not particularly familiar with the seasonality of the local fish, and they're not sure either. what's good right now if you're cooking in florida?
i know that red snapper, grouper, flounder, and tilapia are eaten around here, but i'm not so sure what the good times to buy them are.
Bass and Catfish are good all year round.

"Panama city beach has the largest nightclub in u.s.a..."
Well apart from the beach , there are many restaurants, bars/nightclubs, water activities etc. It really depends on what you like doing. Panama City beach has the largest nightclub in U.S.A , Called Club La Vela , which often hosts some really good bands too. Personally one of my favorite places is Pineapple willys , situated on Front beach road, which has a fantastic cocktail menu and the food is great too. .It has a relaxed atmosphere and is right on the beach.
here are some sites to try for more info

 Q. In need of a moment's peace/tranquility...any ideas on a cheap beach vacation (specifically panama city beach)? i would like to stay at a hotel on the beach, but it is not necessary. i know i will save money on a hotel not on the beach. what are some money saving tips for a vacation in panama city beach? it will either be just me or maybe one more person. i am having beach withdrawals. lol i have been unemployed for 6 months, and i am just getting back on my feet. i need a vacation more than ever! even for just a couple of days. i have to get out of town for a bit towards this summer. i find comfort and peace in watching the waves, listening to the sound of the ocean, and enjoying the warm sand, etc........... seriously, it's not just leisure, it's very important because i have been having a very hard time, and i will need a vacation. it will be good for my soul.
i know rates are more expensive during peak season. it doesn't matter when i go, i just want it to be a good time to go while the weather and water is still warm. i don't require luxury, but i don't want to stay in a crappy place or make it a rough vacation. any suggestions?
You could stay at sugar sands. It is one of the few small hotels still left around there. I stayed there about 5 years ago and it was very reasonable. It is on the quiet west end of the beach so it is not very crowded. Not fancy by any means, but it was clean.

 Q. Prison break season 3..what did you think? i think its getting pretty old and lame how all the main characters "coincidently" end up at the same places at the same time - ie the prison in panama..
overall, the episode was good, but not great.
I don't care how old and lame it may get and whether they tour the prisons of the world together the actors are great to watch.

 Q. What colleges do you think i can get into realilistically? what colleges should i apply to? i go to john burroughs school. a very well known high school to all heads of college admissions. its on of the best liberal arts high schools in the u.s.a.
i played basketball and baseball until tenth grade when i got injured during baseball season. since then i´ve only played golf.
i have a 3.85 gpa unweighted.
i have a 4.21 weighted.
i get a´s in all of my classes except in history. i get b´s and b pluses
i´m a little bit behind schedule because i came to my school in 9th grade and it starts in 7th grade and i had to take the lower track classes to begin with because my previous public school hadn´t prepared me for the rigor of my new school.
so i´m a senior this year. and i´m going to be taking precalculus which is the regular course instead of calculus, the advanced track.
i´m going to be taking spanish 4 honors instead of spanish 5 ap.
i am however taking english 4 ap and biology ap which are the advanced track.
i also plan to start taking french this year. i´m especially interested in learning multiple languages.
i got a national honors mention for my psat score-- 211.
i also have received two gold standard awards in the nse (national spanish exam) for scoring within the top 5 percent of the country.
sat is 2190.
critical reading 670
english 760 with an 8 on the essay
math 760
i´m also co-creator and co-president of the comedy club at my school. my club makes funny videos and skits to present in assembly. last year we raised over 3,000 dollars with tshirt sales and donated all the proceeds to a needy charity.
every spring break i have gone on a school trip.
9th grade year i went to southern missouri and completed 50 hours of community service for needy mothers.
10th grade year i went to panama (the country) to improve my spanish with about 20 other kids from my school. i also did community service down there.
11th grade year i returned to panama and even further improved my spanish.
10th grade summer i worked full time.
this summer i worked full time selling extended service contracts for automobiles over the phone. i sold these in spanish. which i think should look really good for college. i´m ninety percent fluent in spanish. all of which i learned through school and school trips.
i really need financial aid. my family is in no position to pay for me to go to any of the colleges i list, if i don´t receive any financial aid.
so that´s an important thing. if i got into the right school then i could take out college loans obviously, but i´d like to stay away from borrowing huge sums.
one other thing is that i plan to retake the sat in order to try to raise my critical reading score. because its far below my other scores.
soo anyways, some of the colleges i am considering applying to are
1)duke university
2)grinnell college
3) indiana university
4)kenyon college
5)miami university
6)northwestern university
7)tulane university
8)university of florida
9)university of illinois
10)university of iowa
11)university of miami
12)university of michigan
13)university of missouri
14)university of north carolina
15)university of notre dame
16)university of texas- austin
17)university of washington
18)university of wisconsin
19)virginia tech
obviously i´m not going to apply to 19 colleges. i wanted some other people´s (hopefully knowledgable peoples) opinions on not only which colleges i have a good chance of getting into but also from which ones i have a good chance of getting financial aid.
to help you guys out, i´d rather go to a larger public school. but i know that out of state colleges are somtimes hesitant to offer financial aid to out of staters. that´s why i´ve also included smaller private schools in my list.
obviously i have a lot of colleges and no idea which ones to choose. any info would help. any at all. also if you can think of any other colleges i should apply to that are not on this list that are similar and you think would be a good fit for me, let me know. also if there is anything else i could be doing in order to increase my chances of being accepted into a college or getting financial aid, please let me know. thanks.
..........
i also forgot to mention that i got a full academic scholarship to my high school, which costs over 20,000 dollars per year.
as far as majoring i´m really not sure. i´m only 17 years old. thinking along the lines of business or maybe some kind of doctor. but i´m not looking for a graduate school. just a good solid 4 year college that´s affordable for me.
I think you have a good chance at getting into many of these universities. The hardest ones are likely to be Duke, Northwestern, Notre Dame and UNC-Chapel Hill (because you're from out of state), but you're still a strong candidate. Being able to do your summer job in Spanish when you're not a native speaker should definitely help you. The following schools on your list will meet 100% of your demonstrated financial need (per the FAFSA form) if they admit you:
Duke, Grinnell, Northwestern, Michigan and Notre Dame (and maybe Tulane and Kenyon, too). Some of the other schools may be able to offer merit scholarships to help defray your college costs. The U. of Missouri would be smart to offer you enough aid to keep you in state, but the U. of Iowa might be generous, too, to lure away a strong student.

 Q. Any tips for a central america road trip? my fiance and i would like to take a road trip from southern mexico to costa rica or panama. we don't necessarily want to spend a lot of time in each country (2-3 days). can you recommend good stops, the distance, cost cutting tips, bad areas to avoid, etc. also, what would be a good time of year to avoid the rainy seasons in each country? any advice would be great. thank you!
Don't travel at night
In south mexico I recommended you to visit the riviera maya (Akumal and Tulum) or Chiapas (Lagunas de Montebello, cascadas de agua azul, Palenque, Comitan)
Don't travel with jewelry or expensive cameras
Take your vaccinations
