I wouldn`t worry about bringing a great deal of cash into Panama - generally it`s safer not to travel with a lot of cash. There are a multitude of bank machines in Panama City, and a good number across the country to maintain a good supply of cash. Since Panama operates on the dollar (though they call it the balboa, it`s actually US dollar bills that are in circulation there), there would be no exchange rate to pay from US $ accounts. Or you can bring traveler`s checks with you, though these might be a little more difficult to cash as you have to go into the bank, and bank hours and bank holidays can restrict access.

Q. Nothing says "Panama", like a Mola, it's native art made by the Kunas. It's kinda like embossed fabric, hand sewn by native women, any mola you see will be made by hand, as the technique cannot be replicated by a sewing machine. They range in price from a couple of bucks to hundreds for more elaborate pieces. They're on t-shirts, purses, caps etc. but i prefer them as wall art, they come in frames, but I buy them loose and frame them here, it's just more convenient for travel. You can also get pottery but it's not as beautiful and it can break inside luggage. If you want I can tell you which tourist friendly stores you can get them, because they're more expensive in the airport.

You can purchase a satellite dish in Panama City, and get the channels you want without having to deal with Cable Onda or Direct TV.
Look in the yellow pages (p. 53), as there are at least 4 or more satellite TV providers and installers in Panama City, and they can also service you outside Panama City.

I believe its expensive, probably several hundred dollars, and that is assuming its not a protected species. Also, it will have to spend a few weeks at least in quarantine.

I would originally say to bring shorts, bathing suit, tank tops, and then I finished reading that you burn easy. So let me tell you if you get burned, you're going to be uncomfortable if you burn your legs and throw on jeans. Many people out there will be burnt and trust me, jeans not a good idea on those fire engine red legs. Bring some t-shirts and maybe even some you don't mind wearing in the water to help those shoulders out a little bit. No t-shirt is going to protect you 100% either. If you have a super lightweight jacket I'd bring it in case you eat out at a restaraunt we all know sometimes those get cold. And you may also have some nights where it's cold so if you are going to be on the beach or outside at night it will protect you from getting a cold. Don't worry about packing too little and end up overpacking. There is Pier Park that has a wide variety of shops which you can find anything you may have forgotten and souveniers. Not only is there Pier Park but also random shops all thoughout the strip. And I burn easy and Coppertone Sport 50+ works best for me and I put it on every 35-40 minutes.

They are referring to Panama City, Panama. However I must point out that the boom is gone. Sure they're finishing the projects that already had financing in place, but trust me there aren't a great number of investors looking to relocate or invest in real estate as is, and there's also a considerable number of people that can't close on their purchases, and are desperate to sell at break-even prices.
Most of the boom started somewhere around 2003, and it's peak was around 2007 when prices topped out at $3,000 USD x square meter for waterfront/bay front property.
When the bubble started to burst in South Florida, the local banks in Panama tightened up their policies and the prices started to drop, as financing was limited to $1,500 x square meter.
The prices haven't bottomed out just yet, as there are still some number of South and Central American investors that are using the immigration loop hole that real estate investment allows to opt for permanent residency in Panama City, specially from those countries that have been influenced by leftist governments.
However I wouldn't recommend Panama Real Estate as a short term investment. If you're thinking relocation or mid to long term, you might give it a shot depending on the property and its location.

Q. Does anybody know a good dessert from panama....im doing a project and we have to bring in food..please help? - i was originally going to do pastel tres leches (three milk cake) but this guy already presented and he did it.

1 c all purpose flour
1/2 c butter..."
PANAMA CANAL CAKE
1 c All purpose flour
1/2 c Butter, melted
1/2 c Nuts, your choice -- chopped
16 oz Whipped topping
1 c Powdered sugar
8 oz Cream cheese
3 c Cold milk, divided
1 4 oz pkg chocolate pudding m

1 4 oz pkg vanilla pudding mix
1 t Vanilla
More chopped nuts
Mix flour, butter and nuts. Press into a 9 x 13" baking dish. Bake in
a 400 degree oven for 10 to 15 minutes until browned. Cool. Combine
one container of whipped topping with the powdered sugar and cream
cheese. Spread over cooled crust. Mix 1 1/2 cup cold milk with
chocolate pudding and spread over the cream cheese layer. Mix 1 1/2
cups cold milk with vanilla pudding and spread over the cream cheese
layer. Top with one container of whipped topping and sprinkle nuts
over the top.
