"The minimum - i could spend years ferreting out all the awesome nooks and..."

There isn`t really a best time - the weather is basically beautiful all year. There is less rain in the `summer` months, from December through April, but it is warm all year round. The higher inland elevations have cooler, spring-like weather, and there are micro-climates all over the place. The Azuero Peninsula, for example, is quite dry compared to the rest of the country, which is generally humid. From fresh to hot, there is no end of choices. I agree with the answer above, the best thing you can do is give yourself enough time to see all that Panama has to offer- there`s so much variety, and so much more than just Panama City. A month is the minimum - I could spend years ferreting out all the awesome nooks and crannies of this little country. Get a bunch of guide books because there are so many `undiscovered` spots still to explore. As for tourists, there are more and more each year - Panama has worked hard to market itself to the world, and the recent real estate and economic boom have done a lot to raise the country`s profile. That, plus the US currency used there, political stability, and far better infrastructure than popular Costa Rica to the north, have really driven tourism. According to the Panama MInistry of Tourism, there were 1.38 million tourists to Panama in 2008, up 13% since 2007.

The hot season in Panama is January through March. There is almost no rain and the weather is dry. Lots of sunshine, great fishing, snorkeling, scuba diving at Isla Coiba. If you want to see Panama at its best you need at least a month of vacation.

Q. What is the best time of year to visit panama rainforests?
i plan to go to the gamboa resort in colon, panama and i was wondering when the best time to go was. i don't know much about the weather in the rainforests besides how much it rains. are their certain seasons that affect the heat? thanks.

"Rainy season..."

Right now we are in a very rainy, rainy season. We have received as much as five inches in just one hour. So if you want to visit the rain forest while it is raining, then this is the time, until December, to come. If you want to be here during the dry season, then come toward the end of December stay until it starts again in April or May. In the dry season it is hot, no two ways about it. The nights will be cool, but that is true all year round.

Anytime the sun is up. Summer may be best. In the winter it is not as clear. Check out http://www.panamacityhotelscheap.com for more info on Panama City as well as cheap hotel rates. If you really want the best quality water I would consider Destin. It is just up the road and the beaches are a hair nicer. For Destin check out http://www.cheapdestinhotels.com.

Q. Anyone from panama city fl? or know it well?
if someone could please tell me, hopefully more fact than opinion, but i'll take either, during the summer, say from may till the end of august, what is/are the best time(s) to go down to panama city beach fl? i guess mainly the best times to go for the water and weather. when the beach is calm, the jellies are gone, and no seaweed is around. cause, when is it that the jellies visit? and when is it that the seaweed comes in, and the water's rough? (red flags) i know that both are pretty predictable, but i can't find when they occur. any help is greatly appreciated. thanks so much!

Q. Central american project?
central american portfolio project where would you like to travel in central american? why? imagine you have been offered a two week-long trip, all expenses paid, to central america. will you visit historical sites? go on an ecotourism tour? live with a local family? learn a local craft? which cities and towns will you visit? there are only two conditions for your visit. 1. you cannot spend your time at resorts! rather, you must go to areas where you can learn about the culture, daily life, and history of the region. 2. you must submit an itinerary for how you will spend your time as well as a persuasive essay on why your trip is of educational value. your itinerary and essay must account for 14 days of travel and explain why you chose each item on your itinerary. description for this project, you will write a 14 day itinerary for a trip to central america as well as a persuasive essay on why your trip is of education value your portfolio assignment has 4 steps: 􀂃 researching central america 􀂃 analyzing your research 􀂃 making an itinerary 􀂃 writing a persuausive essay an itinerary is a list of places to be visited. here is an example of a partial itinerary for mexico. (note: mexico is considered a part of north america, not central america.) sample partial itinerary day 1: fly into mexico city. ride a trolley from the north end of the city to the south end. this will help me to orient myself to the city while adjusting to the high altitude of mexico city. day 2: eat a local breakfast of tamales and atole from a street vendor. visit the meseo nacional de antropologia. this museum will give me the background to understand and appreciate the aztec and mayan sites i will visit later in my trip. visit a local family for a traditional mexican dinner. the international house can help me find a family. day 3: take a walking tour of the centro historico, including aztec ruins and a 16th century cathedral. i am interested in seeing this part of the city since i learned about aztec and spanish colonial history in social studies class. © 2009 connections academy, llc. all rights reserved day 4: go to the centro cultural tepeticpac tlahtolcalli to learn about heuheutl drum playing. i play drums at home and am interested in learning how to play these indigenous drums. day 5: spend a quiet day in the park. many mexicans go to the chapultepec park on sundays, so i will be able to learn more about mexican culture while taking a day of rest. day 6: travel to the teotihuacan pyramids. day 7: leave mexico city and travel to cardenas. from there i will travel to the mayan ruins in southern mexico. step 1: research research the destinations of your choice. you may choose to stay in one central american country or visit several countries throughout the region. the countries of central america: • belize • costa rica • el salvador • guatemala • honduras • nicaragua • panama you will need to find all of the following information to complete your itinerary and essay : • key attractions you would like to visit • activities you would like to do • local food you would like to eat • cultural events you would like to see (music, dance, festivals, etc.) you can use note cards, type your notes on the computer, or use some other method of note taking. there are many sources of information about central america, including your textbook, discovery education™, and grolier online® (linked from your lms home page). below is a list of other resources: • many countries’ governments run tourism web sites • weather web sites can help you decide the best time to travel step 2: research analysis © 2009 connections academy, llc. all rights reserved before you write your itinerary and essay, reflect on the information you learned while researching your trip. write down your thoughts on the following questions; you will need the answers to complete your itinerary and essay. • what are your top priorities? is it a specific country or region? • is there a theme to your travel, such as music, food, or historical sites? • what is the educational value of the places you chose? • why will you enjoy visiting the places you chose? step 3: itinerary now, make your itinerary for your proposed trip! be sure to address the following issues in your final itinerary: • how are you using your time? think about how long it will take you to visit certain places, travel, attend performances, etc. • how will you get from place to place? • your itinerary should last 14 days, with day 1 as your arrival and day 14 as your departure. you do not have to arrive and depart from the same city. part 4: writing a persuasive essay write a short essay to persuade the funders that your trip is of educational value to you. make sure to address the following issues in your final itinerary: • why your trip is of education value • why the trip is a good match for your specific interests • why your tri

Q. Where is the best overseas place for retirement?
i have heard and read a lot about such places as panama, ecuador, and mexico, but i am having a hard time deciding which one is best suited towards my personal criteria. below, i have listed my criteria and value weighted each one from one to ten with one being not important and 10 being very important. 1) weather-hot (at least 80 every day)-minimal to moderate rain- 10 pts. 2) health care-cheap and reliable-10 pts. 3) real estate-affordable, preferrably cheap-8 pts. 4) crime-the lower the better-8 pts. 5) close to the beach-should be within a one hour drive-8pts 6) infrastructure-7 pts. 7) close to a major city-in or near a big city preferrable-7 pts. 8) in a community setting. would love to mingle-6 pts. 9) language- english or spanish. will consider french or portuguese if conditions right-6 pts. 10) special benefits for retirees-4 pts. 11) proximity to the u.s.-would be nice, but not a must-4 pts. no matter what we decide, we plan on visiting first for at least 2 weeks, and renting for at least 6 months before making any permanent decisions.

"2 months as secuirity and first month rent is the norm for move in..."

The Philippines. 1) Weather-hot (at least 80 every day)-minimal to moderate rain- 10 pts. 10 tropical climate 2) Health Care-cheap and reliable-10 pts. 10 3) Real Estate-affordable, preferrably cheap-8 pts. 8 $60k buys a nice condo. 4) Crime-the lower the better-8 pts. 6 5) Close to the beach-should be within a one hour drive-8pts 8 beach is 20 min. one of many nearby. 6) Infrastructure-7 pts. 7 7) Close to a major city-in or near a big city preferrable-7 pts. 6 Iloilo is a small city. 8) In a community setting. Would love to mingle-6 pts. 6 natives are friendly and english speaking. 9) Language- English or Spanish. Will consider French or Portuguese if conditions right-6 pts. 6pts 10) Special benefits for retirees-4 pts. Reirement visa'a easy to get and relatively cheap. 11) Proximity to the U.S.-would be nice, but not a must-4 pts. Have to give it a 0. It's an 18 hour trip back to the West Coast. Iloilo City is located on the Island of Pany (3rd largest) the big one directly south of world famous Boracay. The city is growing has 5 major new malls, good doctors and hospitals and very cheap compared to the states. Same for Dentists. New Airport 30 min outside the city. Many nice resorts and resturants here. Tourist visa's can be extended up to 18 months and it's fast and easy. Personally I recommend renting for at least 1 year before deciding where to live. Besides 6 month or month to minth leases are all but impossible to find. 1 year is the norm. 2 months as secuirity and first month rent is the norm for move in. $400 to $500 for a nice 3-4 br house with maids room. CATV and Internet availibe is most areas near the city. Definately check out the living in the philippines website. Has all the info you need and it's free. It's owner is an american living here for 40 plus years. It also has a link to a discussion group with expats like myself actually living here in the philippines that can help answer specifics in differant areas. Good luck with your search. After travelling the world for 23 years in the Navy I have seen a lot of places. A south pacific tropical island suits me just fine.

Q. Should i just break up with him?
ok im 16 and so is my boyfriend. the thing is though is that he lives in panama and i live in texas. i am moving soon though, to arkansas. my boyfriend told me that he is going to visit me over the summer though. honestly im not sure how that is going to work out. but since ill be moving soon though, that means that i will be going to a new school so ill probably (hoping) meet a new guy. lately i have been thinking about breaking up with my current boyfriend since well we don't ever get to see each other, he has actually not been talking to me lately, and im also starting to notice other guys that could be better for me and i feel like im missing out on something. -should i break up with him? -should i tell him how i've been feeling lately and hope for the best? -if i should break up with him, when would be the best time to do so?

"Want to break up in the first place - a guy would never say..."

looks like your mind's made up. You shouldn't feel bad about it. You're young, and long, long distant relationships don't work. If he lived and hour or so away, no problem, you could always drive out to see him, but even still 16 is even young for that. University students do that frequently, but teenagers? He probably feels the same way. Break up. If you regret it, then you know it was worth something and you could always pick it up where you left off if he really didn't want to break up in the first place - a guy would never say no way to having a relationship with an ex again if he liked her. good luck.

Q. Studying aboard in the republic of panama this fall need information or great websites with info on panama!!?
as stated above i will studying aboard in the republic of panama this fall and i would like a bit of information. i would prefer first hand answers & information, due to the fact that i have already visiting numerous websites. i will be staying in the city of knowledge. information needed: -> -> cost of food (typical food and fast food)? -> -> cost of clothing (such as shirts, jeans, shorts)? -> -> i have been told that police can stop you and demand money, so how are the people/government/ and police? -> -> how do the citizens dress? shorts, jeans what -> -> is there a time difference? -> -> are african americans treated negatively? add any other information that you deem fit :-) and i am aware that their funds are equal to ours but their standard of living is cheaper. ~ thanks & i will pick the best answer soon!! ~

"You can go to costa rica for $50 roundtrip from panama city..."

1. Livng in Panama City, you will have a variety of food options. In you choose the fast-food route, expect to pay about the same or more that you pay in the States. You will find great food and great prices at local restaurants ($3-$6). A lot of guide books say not to eat street vendor food. 2. Like food, there are a lot of options in terms of buying clothes. The Allbrook mall will have everything you're looking for, whether it's $5 shirts or $40 jeans. 3. Throughout my stay in Panama, I never had any problems with the police, nor did I see any foreigner have any problems. I was advised to carry my passport on me everywhere I went just in case the police asked for it. To make things easier and safer, I made a Xerox copy of my passport and my tourist visa just so I would have something to show the police if I needed to. The people are wonderful. They will be patient with you if you're struggling with your Spanish, offer directions or advice, and generally help you if you need it. 4. The dress varies depending on where you are. If you're cruising around the city, wear something comfortable. However, you must wear covered shoes and more formal clothing if you go into a bank or government building. Panamanians wear jeans, polos, shirts, hoodies, tennis shoes, heels --- pretty much everything that we wear in the States. 5. Their time zone: UTC/GMT -5 hours 6. I can't speak from experience, but I would say that African Americans are NOT treated negatively. In fact, you might be surprised by the amount of Panamanians with African heritage. The word they use for a black man is "chombo" (feminine:"chomba") and don't be offended by this. It's not deroggatory. * When you arrive at the international airport, expect to pay anywhere from $20-$27 for a taxi to Panama City. *Do not say "Adios" for "bye." Instead, use "ciao." Saying "adios" means that you are never going to see that person again. *Take advantage of the great bus system. You can go to Costa Rica for $50 roundtrip from Panama City. The ride is something like 17 hours long but the views of the Panamanian and Costa Rican countryside never get old. The buses are large and comfortable and you can watch movies. I would even recommend traveling on these buses within the country. You can go David, which is an 8-hour drive from Panama City, for $25 roundtrip. The little town of Boquete, which is about one hour by bus from David, is a lovely little town and is popular with tourists. You can do a zip-line or river rafting adventure there. The bus from David to Boquete will cost $1.40 each way and is about an hour or more long. *Traveling by taxi within the city should cost about $5-$7. Of course because you are a foreigner, all the drivers will try to charge you more, and they will, but anything more than $9 is ridiculous. Another way to get around is on Panama's famous "diablo rojo." You will see these "flashy" buses all over the city and apparently they are very cheap to ride. * I recommend buying a cell phone. You can get one basically anywhere (grocery stores, mall, etc.) and they are really cheap. I bought one for $15 and used it a lot during my five-month stay. The cell phones in Panama are the same as the pay-as-you-go plans in the States. You can buy the cards to refill your minutes virtually everywhere. They cost anywhere from $3-$20+. * Enjoy! You have picked a wonderful country to study in!

Q. Who am i more obligated to?
ok, this is going to be a little lengthy, and for that i apologize. awhile back (like a year ago), my best friend m from panama was visiting me and i introduced her to my friend j, but they didn't get a long, and neither of them like the other. ff to now, m is visiting again, however, she gave me her itinerary after i had already made dinner plans with j and it turns out she will be arriving the same day/time as j's dinner event. i had already told j i would be going to the dinner for the past three weeks contrary to her belief that i wouldn't be able to make it because of m's arrival. however, when i explained my obligation to m, she insisted she would be upset if i wasn't there to pick her up at the airport even if i had my mom pick her up instead. i don't want to back out of my plans with j and prove her right because then it feels like it's turning into a tug-a-war for my attention. who am i obligated to, and how do i explain to the other party? i feel like either way i'm going to disappoint someone. i'm not trying to weasel my way out of anything, so no rudeness is necessary! i honestly am wondering who i am more obligated to. the dinner is a one time thing that is happening, and of course i would have my mom pick m up (they know each other, m has been my friend since grade school and we're in college now.) i'm torn between both options because they're both my best friends. also, j knows m is coming on the same night already. because i knew m was visiting, i just didn't know when. these past three weeks j keep saying "i don't think you'll be able to go" so part of me wants to go to the dinner just to prove her wrong. might i add that m is staying at my house for the entire week, and j has already implied she will keep herself busy that same week since she doesn't want to see m.

"This is a good test of friendship..."

This is a good test of friendship. Tell M that you made your confirmed plans ahead of her itinerary and there is no way you can back out. If M does not accept this then you know she is selfish and non-accommodating and you should drop her as a friend. You are obligated to J.
