Bella Vista is one of Panama City's downtown neighborhoods, located between El Cangrejo and La Exposición. A very pleasant, bohemian neighborhood, with many old Spanish colonial homes, it has been declared an area of historical importance, with some protection afforded for its historic architecture. The area is also under a construction boom, with taller condos being built to take advantage of the panoramic views overlooking the city through to the Amador causeway and Panama Canal, the waterfront and skyline, and the Casco Viejo (Old Town).
Its central location just behind Balboa Avenue and the waterfront also affords residents easy access to shopping, restaurants and entertainment. The main drag in Bella Vista is Calle Uruguay, with a vibrant nightlife.
