Campo Lindbergh, or Lindbergh Field, is so named for the famous American aviator Charles Lindbergh, who completed the first transatlantic crossing in 'The Spirit of Saint Louis'. This iconic plane also made landings in Panama City in 1928 as part of an exploratory journey through Central America to assess the viability of airmail destinations. One of those sites (formerly known as 'Piña Piña') was renamed Campo Lindbergh in honor of the pioneer flier, who inaugurated the PanAmerican mail flights and eventually passenger flights to the Caribbean Basin.
Today Campo Lindbergh is located within the neighborhood of Juan Díaz on the outskirts of Panama City, just 20 minutes from the Tocumen International Airport, and close medical and sporting facitilies, including the President Remón Race Track.
